Finding the Perfect Realtor

Finding a perfect partner is hard. You need to consider where he is from, what is his educational attainment, what he does for a living, his family background, etc. This is not just to keep yourself from hurting but also, it will secure your ego from destruction. This could be the same in finding your realtor. Although it may not include romantic feelings, it would definitely incorporate time, effort, love, and money … just like a real relationship. But for this, we could call it “REALTORtionship.”

To secure your heart from hurt and disappointment, here are6 tips to find the perfect one for you:

1.Talk with recent clients. Before you go fully into business with your realtor, ask for his or her previous clients first. From them, you could actually gauge how good your agent is doing in the field. Contact some of his or her clients and ask if they were pleased or disappointed with their transactions. Ron Phipps, past president of the NAR, even justified it in an interview.

2.Look up the licensing. Ask your state’s regulatory board about your prospect realtor’s status. They will definitely have his or her information. You may ask about any information regarding complaints or disciplinary actions associated with your agent.

3.Pick a winner. A licensed realtor is under the NAR, so you better choose the one who gets awards, specifically the “Realtor of the Year” award.

4.Select agent with the right credentials. Titles are not just for doctors, lawyers, or nurses; realtors have them too. The title given to an agent is an indication that he or she has taken classes to further his or her knowledge and skills in the real estate industry. Some of these include: CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) who completed additional training in handling residential real estate; ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative): Completed additional education in representing buyers in transactions; and ABR SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist): Completed training aimed at helping buyers and sellers in the 50-plus age range.

5.Research how long the agent has been in business. The years can tell how great your prospect agent could be. Your state licensing authority will be able to tell you how long an agent is in the business. Or, you can just simply ask your agent. That would be a lot easier!

6.Look at their current listings. Check their agency’s website or his/her personal website. You would probably want your agent to be good in a platform that most buyers and sellers use – the internet. Look at how closely the agent’s listings mirror the property you want to buy or sell. Are they in the same area? Is the price range similar? And does the agent have enough listings to indicate a healthy business but not so many that you’d just be a number?
